Egypt's Give Back Tour

Posted Wednesday, May 25, 2011 2:03pm

“The Give Back Tour” is a coat, toy, and fundraising drive to benefit the Tri-State area’s financially challenged residents. The 5-day tour is anchored by a daily 5-hour radio live broadcast originating from locations in Brooklyn, Bronx, Harlem, Queens and Newark, NJ (heard via 107.5 WBLS-FM).

While the holidays can be the most joyful times of the year, they can also be the most stressful times of the year as people are faced with the decision of want vs. need. Having recognized that one small act of consideration or selflessness can impact a life on a major level, the Egypt’s "Give Back Tour” was birthed.

“Recent statistics report that well over a half a million NYC residents lost their unemployment benefits between Dec 2010 and May of 2011. That number is staggering!” Egypt stated. “I’ve always felt a sense of responsibility to utilize the power I have behind the radio microphone to serve a much greater calling to help our communities; one that gives a voice and hope to the legions of tri-state residents whose basic everyday needs might otherwise go unmet. "The Give Back Tour" is a big step in that direction,” Egypt added.

Every year, listeners are encouraged to donate new or clean, barely worn coats, unwrapped toys, or financial donations for all ages.

Special thank you to Kandi Burruss of "Real Housewives of Atlanta, recording artist Ginuwine, Actress Melinda Williams, Mayor Corey Booker, and Bronx borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. for their support.

In 2010 we were successful in raising almost 2,000 coats and countless toys, thanks to the kindness of tri-state residents. The items were donated to The Children's Aid Society, Toys 4 Tots, Hudson Cradle, New York Cares, and Jersey Cares. We are working to have an even larger turnout for our 2011 tour.
